HGH detection time is approximately 10 to 21 days with a biomarkers blood test
With an “isoform” blood test, the detection time is approximately 72 hours.
Currently, traditional urine analysis is not able to distinguish between artificial and normal HGH in the body.
As a result, blood testing is the only accurate method for detecting misuse of HGH.
Because it’s difficult to find proof of using HGH, testing for this substance is uncommon.
If it is tested, it is usually only performed at the highest level of competition such as the Olympics.
Human growth hormone is a popular performance enhancing drug in bodybuilding because it not only helps athletes make strength gains when combined with steroids.
HGH also heals damaged tissue and strengthens joints and ligaments, making it much easier to recover from injuries and intense training.
HGH Detection Time & Half-life
After secreting into the blood, human growth hormone has an extremely short half-life of approximately 15 to 45 minutes.
Does Hgh Show Up in a Urine Test?
Human growth hormone is found in very small quantities in urine—less than one percent of what’s found in the blood.
Furthermore, there’s not a lot of information available about the excretion of various human growth hormone isoforms in the urine.
Unnatural levels of HGH may be detectable in the future via urine testing, but as of now, it’s not possible to test people for misuse of HGH through urine analysis.
How Long Is Hgh in Your System?
Technically, HGH is always present in your body, as it’s a natural hormone that you need to live a normal life.
As mentioned before, the half-life of HGH is approximately 15 to 45 minutes, which means that the plasma concentration of HGH is halved after the half-life period passed.
For example, if you took a 6 IU (international unit) dose of HGH, in around 15 to 45 minutes you would have about 3 IU of HGH in your blood.
Generally, five half-life periods need to pass before the hormone is gone from your system.
This means that HGH should be out of your system after about 3-4 hours.
In the past, international athletes were tested for HGH use with an “isoform” blood test, which can only detect abnormal levels of HGH for up to about 72 hours.
However, a new blood test, known as the human growth hormone biomarkers test can find abnormal signs that prove HGH use for up to 21 days.
This test has been approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency after more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles showed that this is a scientifically-valid test.
The biomarkers blood test can be used by itself or in combination with the “isoform” test for more accurate results.
Military Drug Testing for HGH
Can the military drug test you for HGH? The answer is yes, but it’s not likely that you’ll be tested for this substance.
The military usually focuses on testing soldiers for PCP, cocaine, meth, LSD, and marijuana.
Steroids and HGH aren’t typically on the list of substances the military is looking for, regardless of whether you’re a new recruit or a veteran.
However, just because the military isn’t likely to test for HGH or steroids doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea to try to use these substances to enhance your physical performance.
The military has the right to test you at any time they choose, and they can test for any substance they want to.
HGH testing is pricey, so again, it’s not likely that you’ll be tested for it.
However, since the tests can be completely random, and you get no warning, one mistake could lead to serious consequences that greatly affect your career.
Effects of HGH on Sports Performance
The three main benefits of using HGH for bodybuilding are:
Increased lean body mass and reduced body fat
increased muscle mass
Higher resistance to injuries
Lean Body Mass:
There have been multiple studies that have shown using HGH can help an athlete increase lean body mass and reduce body fat.
However, there has been no evidence of an increase in muscle strength when only using HGH, and this may be because of short-term fluid retention.
Some people believe that HGH builds muscle mass by raising insulin-like growth factor in the blood, which leads to improved protein synthesis with no side effects.
However, there are also researchers who don’t believe that there’s enough evidence to support this conclusion.
The latter argument is primarily supported by research that shows that HGH doesn’t affect muscle protein synthesis any more than a placebo does.
Both of the viewpoints are only discussing the use of HGH in healthy, young adults.
Over short periods of time, HGH could help build up connective tissue within your muscles.
Assuming this is true, you could experience better resistance to injuries, as well as faster healing of damaged tendons and muscle tissue.
Keep in mind that while HGH may assist with injury recovery and shorten the amount of time you need to recovery from fatigue, this doesn’t mean that HGH makes your muscles capable of producing more force.
HGH alone doesn’t provide strength gains by itself, according to current research.
Athletes Who Have Used HGH
Some of the more notable athletes who have used HGH include, Jason Giambi, Bill Romanowski, and Andy Pettitte.
Toward the end of 2003, baseball player Jason Giambi told a federal grand jury that he used steroids and HGH for two years, starting in 2001.
At the time he was using these drugs, there were no Major League Baseball rules prohibiting the use of steroids or HGH. Giambi didn’t suffer any disciplinary actions.
Bill Romanowski is a baseball player who confessed to using HGH in 2002 to help recover from an elbow injury. Like Giambi, he wasn’t disciplined.
Andy Pettitte, a former football player, went on the TV show, 60 Minutes, in 2005 where he admitted to taking HGH and steroids from 2001 to 2003.
However, he was retired from the league since 2003, and he did not suffer any disciplinary action.
