Sopharma Tribestan is a supplement used by athletes, both professional and amateur.

It is used to increase testosterone, to gain strength and to gain lean muscle mass quickly.

It is marketed as a way to naturally increase energy, stamina and sex drive.

It can safely be used by both men and women.

What is Tribestan Sopharma?

Tribestan is an herbal supplement derived from the plant Tribulus terrestris L., Bulgaricum.

It is a plant found throughout the world, although this particular product of tribulus, Sopharma Tribestan, is grown in Bulgaria.

It is natural and non-hormonal.

One tablet of Tribestan contains 250 mg of Tribulus terrestris L. Bulgaricum extract. Since it is an herbal supplement, a prescription is not necessary.

Sopharma Review

The Bulgarian pharmaceutical company, Sopharma, makes Tribestan.

In particular, the company has done a lot of work in phytochemistry, or the use of plants to make medicine.

Tribestan is one of their most popular products internationally.

Sopharma is a leader in Bulgarian pharmaceuticals and emphasizes manufacturing practices that meet the Good Manufacturing Practice.

In manufacturing Tribestan, Sopharma takes care to ensure there are no herbal particles that could be a health risk.

Other companies may make similar supplements from the T. Terrestris plant, but they typically source the plant from outside Bulgaria.

Protodioscin, the active ingredient in the supplement, is sometimes increased in other Tribulus products, but they do this by artificially adding the active ingredient, according to Sopharma.

Tribestan Dosage

Tribestan can be taken in a variety of cycles. For maximum results, Sopharma recommends taking 2 tablets 3 times per day with a meal.

Do this for 90 days and then slowly reduce the number of tablets by 1 tablet every 4-5 days. Continue to do this until you reach a maintenance dose of 1 tablet 2-3 times per day.

Another Tribestan cycle to try is taking 2 tablets 3 times per day for 40-50 days. Slowly reduce the number of tablets you take by 1 tablet every 4-5 days. Continue to do this until you reach a maintenance dose of 1 tablet 2-3 times per day.

According to Sopharma, the total number of days you should take Tribestan to see results are 80-90 days.

Tribestan Benefits

Does Tribestan work?

In an interview, Chris Lockwood, M.S., C.S.C.S., and currently the vice president of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), was specifically asked about Tribulus.

Lockwood said, “yes, there’s strong data that a standardized extract of Tribulus terrestris L., from above ground parts, containing five to 10 milligrams per kilogram bodyweight, per day, of active Protodioscin, offers some form of ergogenic (performance-enhancing) affect.”

But Lockwood also warned against using supplements that are manufactured with an inferior herb. As with wine, Lockwood said, the effectiveness of herbal supplements is affected by where the plant grows.

He thinks this is why people do not always experience results from taking Tribulus.

On the other hand, Wikipedia and Men’s Fitness both report that there are studies that show there are no demonstrable effects of taking tribulus terrestris as a supplement.

It failed to increase testosterone levels and it did not show any strength-enhancing properties in the studies cited.

However, Men’s Fitness did report that women who took Tribulus experienced positive results, especially in regards to improving fertility and raising libido.

Tribestan Results

Sixteen Tribuestan reviews from Bodybuilding.com are positive overall. Many male users saw an increase in focus and energy. The most consistent comment is an increase in sex drive and stamina.

As one review wrote: “Taking Sopharma Tribstan has giving me extra energy thoughout [sic] the day. It has aided in my leaning out…. I’ve also found a increase in my sex drive.”

Negative comments primarily revolved around the cost of the supplement. Many said they would continue to take it if the price came down.

One example of a negative review: “For me the cost/results benefits just weren’t [sic] there…. i [sic] will consider using this product in the future if the overall price point goes down.”

Meanwhile, users at Evolutionary.com do not think Tribulus works, except for an increase in sex drive.

The sole user who recommended it wrote that after trying many different types of Tribulus, “Tribulus Ultra by Fitness Labs and Tribestan by Sopharma” are his favorites.

Adverse Effects

According to Sopharma, there are no known Tribestan side effects.

However, Men’s Fitness reports that studies on animals have resulted in disturbance of muscle coordination at high dosages.

Sopharma warns that women should stop taking the supplement if they are pregnant. They should not take it if they are nursing. It is not recommended for children.

Care should be taken when reducing the number of doses you take daily. According to Sopharma, quitting all at once can lead to negative side effects.

It is recommended you slowly reduce the number of tablets every 4-5 days, as described above in the section on dosage.

Where to Buy

It can be bought on the Sopharma website for $49.95. One order contains 60 tablets. Each tablet contains 250 mg of Tribulus.

Sopharma Tribestan Tribulus Terrestris tablets are also for sale on Amazon. 60 tablets cost $29.48 with $5 for shipping.
