Masteron enanthate is not a particularly popular anabolic androgenic steroid.

A “sister” form of Masteron known as Drostanolone propionate or Masteron propionate (with the different ester attached) is only slightly more popular.

Masteron Enanthate is a name given to an esterified version of Drostalone.

It is more formally known as Drostanolone Enanthate.

Is it effective for bodybuilders or it is a waste of time and money?

A brief review of Masteron may help you decide.

Masteron Enanthate VS Propionate

Masteron was the brand name used to market Drostanolone, specifically Drostanolone Propionate, which is a short estered version of Drostanolone.

However, the trade name was quickly taken up by the bodybuilding communities, and both Drostanolone Propionate and Drostanolone enanthate are commonly referred under the name Masteron.

The difference between the two forms of Masteron mentioned above is the ester attached to the base drug.

Compare the differences between the two based on the ester that modifies – through the number of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen molecules – the activity of drostanolone:

Drostanolone enanthate: C27H44O3

Drostanolone propionate: C23H36O3

These differences in molecular structure have an influence on the primary mechanism of action or triggering activity of Masteron as well as its half-life.

Masteron propionate has been discontinued in regard to manufacture, not only due to its safety, but because it’s one of the older anabolic steroids manufactured by Mexican-based Syntex in the late 1950s.

Newer anabolic androgenic steroids continually make their way into the prescription market, as well as underground labs. Masteron enanthate is a relatively new product developed strictly by underground labs.

What Does the Masteron Steroid Do?

Masteron (drostanolone) enanthate is manufactured from dihydrotestosterone or DHT, which is a metabolite of testosterone.

The Drostanolone molecule is the starting place for identifying Masteron enanthate. It is derived from Dihydrotestosterone.

In the body, small amounts of testosterone are converted to DHT, a potent androgen that promotes the development of male sex characteristics.

In other words, Drostanolone is a modified version of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Other anabolic steroids are also derivatives of Dihydrotestosterone, including Anavar, Winstrol, and Primobolan which are known scientifically as oxandrolone, stanozolol and methenolone respectively.

There are many other DHT variations other than the ones mentioned here. Drostanolone contains a 2-methyl group in its structure.

This is what differentiates it from its parent hormone, Dihydrotestosterone.

The addition of this 2-methyl group gives Masteron a higher propensity towards anabolic action compared to Dihydrotestosterone.

Even though Masteron contains significantly more anabolic properties compared to DHT, these anabolic properties are moderate or less when compared to the other anabolic steroids that are available.

Due to these reasons, Masteron is most often used for the purpose of weight loss and cutting.

It is widely used as an agent before contests by competitive bodybuilders. It is also used in sport events, specifically running events, as it has a purported ability to promote lean mass while reducing water weight.

In addition to the above mentioned modifications, Masteron is fixed with an enanthate ester.

The bond occurs in the 17 beta hydroxyl group, and it gives the ability to extend the half-life of the drug by an approximate seven to ten days.

The most common esters attached to anabolic androgenic steroids include but are not limited to:

Each has the capability of influencing the absorption or dissemination of the drug into the body. For example, acetate allows a faster absorption rate than enanthate, but it also has a shorter half-life.

The longer the half-life, the longer the activity of the drug in the body, in addition to less frequent dosing.

In the case of Masteron propionate, there is a propionate ester attached to the 17 beta hydroxyl group. The half-life of Masteron propionate is estimated to be four and a half days.

As previously mentioned, Masteron is a derivative of Dihydrotestosterone.

The anabolic steroids that are derived from Dihydrotestosterone are extremely popular in the body building communities because they are thought to be more convenient and useful.

Dihydrotestosterone derivatives are usually resistant to aromatization. This means they are not vulnerable to being metabolized into estrogen.

The aromatase enzyme does not identify Dihydrotestosterone as a usable substrate. Any hormone that is a modification of Dihydrotestosterone carries this trait.

Estrogenic side effects are uncommon with DHT-base steroids except in the case of Oxymetholone. Oxymetholone, also known as Anadrol, shows high estrogenic effects even though it does not aromatise.

It is widely understood that Masteron enanthate will not pose the risks of estrogenic effects no matter how high the dosage. This is held to be the same for any other Dihydrotestosterone derivate except Anadrol.

In the male body, androgens convert to estrogen, triggering estrogen-type side effects such as gynecomastia and fluid retention.

Masteron enanthate can inhibit such negative side effects. In fact, it is reputed to not only negate estrogen production in males, but may actually decrease levels of estrogen.

Masteron is commonly used as a mild aromatase inhibitor. It is taken prevent the conversion of androgens to estrogen through the aromatase enzyme and to block estrogen from attaching to receptors at breast tissues which can cause gynecomastia.

Considering the fact that Masteron propionate was used for the treatment of breast cancer in females, this application might seem counterintuitive.

The anti-estrogenic properties of Masteron can address issues such as excess water in the body. With a low body mass index, a chiselled, ripped look can emerge that is held to be unique to Masteron.

This is why Masteron Enanthate and Masteron Propionate are commonly referred to as physique enhancers.

Masteron Enanthate Results For Bodybuilders

Masteron enanthate can have a rather impressive effect on bodybuilders, mainly due to its dihydrotestosterone influences.

Masteron benefits for bodybuilders are most typically achieved in those with an already lean body mass or while engaging in cutting cycles. For bodybuilders, this means:

fat loss

enhanced strength

enhanced post workout recovery

Masteron enanthate is not typically recommended for its bulking capabilities because in order to achieve noticeable muscle mass gains, higher doses would be required, which is not recommended.

Some bodybuilders do incorporate Masteron enanthate into a bulking cycle, but mainly for its anti-estrogenic properties.

Masteron Enanthate Dosage & How Often To Inject

As with any usage of an anabolic androgenic steroid, dosage recommendations can vary widely depending on preferences.

Because the enanthate ester provides a longer half-life, it doesn’t need to be taken as often as other forms of Masteron such as Masteron propionate.

However, because the enanthate ester is weaker than that of propionate, a bit of experimentation in regard to dosage may be required.

When it comes to Masteron propionate, dosage averages anywhere from 300 mg to 400 mg weekly.

Use may require an increase in dosage, with recommendations averaging 400 mg to 500 mg on a weekly basis. These doses are split into two equal doses on a weekly basis.

A user typically uses Masteron enanthate in a cycle that lasts from six weeks to three months, depending on personal goals.

Side Effects of Masteron Enanthate

Masteron enanthate, like other anabolic androgenic steroids, can trigger a number of negative side effects. Some of the side effects are mild while others are more serious.

Among the most common for men using Masteron enanthate:

Potential for male pattern baldness or hair loss due to presence of DHT, which can cause hair follicles to shrink. Hair products such as finasteride will have little to no effect on drostanolone.

Negative influence on cholesterol levels, which can have a detrimental impact on cardiovascular function.

Testosterone suppression – this causes testicular atrophy or shrinking testicles. This decreases sperm production and may negatively influence quality of sperm, fertility, and libido.

This drug is believed to be free of side effects related to the rise in aromatisation. Masteron Enanthate has not been observed to aromatize, and bodybuilders even go as far as using it as an anti-estrogen in some cases.

Estrogenic side effects that arise from using other anabolic steroids are regarded as a non-issue with Masteron E.

Water retention, bloating, gynecomastia and blood pressure increases are not associated with Drostanolone Enanthate use.

These side effects can also be reduced in a Masteron stack if they arise from other compounds.

There are androgenic side effects that can arise from Masteron Enanthate use. These might affect users more than they would with other types of anabolic steroids because Masteron Enanthate is a Dihydrotestosterone derivate which puts it at the higher end of androgenic side.

These side effects can include oily skin, irritability, aggression, male pattern baldness and acne outbreaks.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is also a side effect that can arise from Masteron Enanthate use.

Since Masteron Enanthate does not metabolize into a more androgenic compound inside the body like Testosterone, 5 alpha reductase inhibitors like Proscar and Dutasteride are not reported to help in the reduction of these side effects.

Masteron Enanthate can shut down the natural production of testosterone by suppressing the Hypothalamic Pituitary Testicular Axis (HPTA).

This is a common effect of anabolic steroids. This means the naturally occurring testosterone production in the body can be stopped completely as long as Masteron Enanthate is present in the body.

These effects may even be there months after the cycle is completed. Failing to treat this condition can leave a user with the inability to produce testosterone naturally and endogenously inside the body for the rest of their life.

This is a condition called hypogonadism. PCT programs are planned in advance and implemented following a steroid cycle to minimize the risk of permanent harm to the endocrine system.

Since Drostanolone Enanthate contains anti-estrogenic properties, negative effects have been observed in the cardiovascular system of Masteron Enanthate users.

Masteron can cause higher levels of low density lipoprotein cholesterol while lowering the high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels.

This can essentially leave the user with more bad cholesterol and less good cholesterol in the body. This increases the risks on the cardiovascular diseases.

Reduction in estrogen in the body can further increase the interference with healthy cholesterol levels.

Cardiovascular support supplements are often cycled with Masteron, and performance users are warned by experienced physique builders to keep careful watch of their estrogen levels when using Masteron Enanthate.

Before looking to buy Masteron enanthate online from companies like Alpha Pharma, be aware of the potential for scams and counterfeit products. Safety should always be considered with use.
